April 2008: JSM Technologies, Alma's new partner in the shipbuilding sector in India

JSM Technologies, Alma’s new partner in the shipbuilding sector in India.

Alma has just entered a distribution agreement with JSM Technologies, an Indian company located in Pune (Maharashtra), specializing in the integration of solutions and services for shipyards. Born in 2001, JSM Technologies is a rapidly growing structure which can already boast having performed more than 200 000 hours of conception services for the Indian shipbuilding industry.

Empowered by its technical expertise and its acute understanding of the shipyards difficulties regarding conception and manufacturing, JSM Technologies will distribute act/cut , nesting and cutting machines programming software, to the Indian shipyards, customers it knows very well. The installation of Alma's software in Mazagon Dock Ltd and Bharati Shipyard Ltd, both shipyards located in Mumbai, is already scheduled before the summer of 2008.

Among the different industry sectors addressed by Alma (automotive, defence, aerospace, electronic, subcontracting, etc.), the shipbuilding field has been prominent since the beginning. The Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire (France) have indeed actively contributed to the first developments of Alma’s nesting and programming software that the shipyards used in the early 80’ to build the « Sovereign of the Seas » cruise liner. Since then, Alma has acquired an incomparable expertise in this field, having equipped several dozens of shipyards, and has become the European leader on this market.

This expertise has now grown to other continents, act/cut being in use since the beginning of 2008 by Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard Co., Ltd., foreground chinese shipyards. This installation was performed by Alma China, located in Shanghai.

Moreover, act/cut is integrated to the « CATIA Structure / DELMIA DPM for Structure » solution through the CAA V5 program to which participates Alma, which is also one of Dassault Systèmes software partners. Shipyards using CATIA and using metal sheet marking and cutting processes can therefore benefit from the act/cut V5 for Structure solution, and from Alma's expertise in the field of sheet metal CAM applied to the shipbuilding.
